busted hand prints

This weekend while celebrating the holiday's and buckling down for the blizzard of 2010 I decided to craft with no preparation.  In the midst of cabin fever I goggled how to make homemade plaster and took a chance.  I had everything it required (or so I thought) 2 cups of salt, 4 cups of flour and 2 1/2 cups of water.  Well I used Kosher salt because it was all I had.  Little did I know that Kosher salt does not dissolve in water!  Finding this out half way through my project I decided to experiment anyway!

Fine-Tunning the Nursery

I did the nursery 3 years ago, thinking I was creative with this family tree idea.  Now everywhere I look there is a tree painted in a nursery.  But fine by me because we like that fact that our kiddo's get so excited to wake up from nap time and point to family members on the wall.  The color of the frame bugged me so I went ahead and spray painted the black frames white.  I feel it is much calmer this way, and there was nothing else black in the room.

Thanksgiving Recap

My Aunt and Uncle hosted Thanksgiving this year.  My Aunt does such a nice job with everything from the food to the little details.  Here are some of the highlights!

Pumpkins all fall long!

Pumpkins are not just for Halloween.  I keep them around for thanksgiving decor as well.

A Pop of White

This bench served as seating in my parents kitchen table during the 1980's.  If my memory serves me correct we could fit 8 kids on this comfortably.  Now it has seen better days and I thought a pop of white was just what it needed.

"Summer Cleaning"

Didn't get around to "spring cleaning" so here's to "summer cleaning"!  I am embarrassed to show how my closet looked before but hey turning a new leaf.  Hope this inspires me and others to get organized.
